On February 2nd, the Board held a Public Bond Forum to discuss the upcoming Capital Bonds project. Public comment appreciated the work of the Board and district thus far, but also targeted a variety of criticisms about the Bond Members of the community questioned the removal of middle school fields as part of the last Bond revisions, while other members discussed the financial implications of going over the $40 million tax neutral level—with the Bond now nearing over $100 million. In the discussion through public comment, the Board acknowledged these concerns, and after deliberating and seeing public support for the field projects, decided to include them in the Bond scope.
Also at this meeting, staffing recommendations for the 2026-2027 school year were presented. In this presentation, the addition of one special education teacher at SMS and one math teacher at SHS were recommended. This discussion will continue as the board works on finalizing the budget in the upcoming months.Â
