On Saturday, February 11th, Scarsdale High School students from the Science Olympiad team traveled to Byram Hills High School in Armonk, New York. Competitors built devices such as hovercrafts and were tested on their scientific knowledge of biology, chemistry, and physics. Scarsdale High School’s team was able to secure fifteen medals, ranging from first place to tenth place, and placed third overall out of 45 teams. For the first time in three years, the Scarsdale team will be able to go to the state competition hosted at Le Moyne College in Syracuse, New York.

To get to states, team members put in hours of hard work.
“We were more organized as a team overall and we also set up a mock competition that helped prepare our members better than other years,” commented Keshav Rastogi ’17, president of the Science Olympiad club.

The team is now working to do the best they can at states by focusing on events. “We can medal in certain events. We are trying to focus on the events that we know we can medal in and dedicate all of our resources towards those people,” commented Rastogi.

Scarsdale High School will be competing at Le Moyne College in Syracuse, New York for the Division C Science Olympiad State Tournament on March 10-11.
