Raising Awareness for H4H

The SHS Habitat for Humanity club participated in a walk in Larchmont on Sunday, November 5th, at 12:45 pm to raise money and awareness for the club. This annual fall fundraiser, hosted by Habitat Westchester, featured an easy, but beautiful walk in the heart of Larchmont, including a stop by the harbour. Walkers were encouraged to bring any amount of money to the walk that would go to the organization. “Habitat constantly builds homes for people in need. When there is a disaster, like a fire or hurricane, Habitat helps the families get any essentials they need and get them back on their feet,” noted club president Caroline Mandel ’18.

Show your support for the cause and attend the walk in the future–it is a great way for nonmembers to join the club and bond with other club members! If you can’t make the walk, there are many other easy ways to get involved. Habitat for Humanity meets every Thursday after school, but there are still other ways to get involved if you can’t make the meetings. Contact an officer to be put on the email list to get announcements or join the SHS Habitat for Humanity 2017-2018 Facebook group. “It is never too late to join Habitat and we welcome all. We have around two house builds per month, and we have our big event, Gingerbread, soon on December 8th, and we need all the help we can get,” commented Mandel.
