New Ro vs. Scarsdale Football Game

Scarsdale Varsity Football lost Saturday’s game, 35 – 0, to the now (6 – 0) New Rochelle. Prior to Saturday’s game, Scarsdale and New Rochelle were the only teams in the section that held 5 – 0 records. Originally, the game was supposed to be on Friday, October 6th, but the Athletic Director of New Rochelle decided to move the game Saturday at 4 pm. This time change was detrimental for Scarsdale because they lost 4 players to college visits and SATs. AJ Bowie ’17 and Dermot Kantor ’17 were able to come in the middle of the first quarter despite taking the SATs. New Rochelle scored its first touchdown with 10 seconds left in the first quarter. Reflecting on the team’s attitude, Jack Charland ‘19 shared that going into the game “we had high hopes, we thought we could go in there and do something…. We made many mistakes, we psyched ourselves out and go too nervous, and it didn’t work out.” Despite losing the game, Scarsdale is still 6th in the AA Class Ranking, with Arlington being in first with a record of (5-1) and New Rochelle in second with a record of (6 – 0). New Rochelle will host Ketcham, and Scarsdale will host 11th seed Suffern on Friday, October 13th, at 7pm. So, come and support the Raiders this Friday!
