School Government Report

  • Successful surprise munchkin event during common tutorial on 1/14
  • Held the winter Pep rally
  • School government elections next week

Senior Class Government Report

  • Working on their hundred days till graduation event
  • Working hard on senior play, specifically publicity. They encourage everyone to SIGN UP!
  • They are also beginning the process to plan prom

Junior Class Government 

  • Finished the process for designing Junior Olympic shirts and senior shirts
  • Planning a Walkathon for Non Sibi Day

Sophomore Class Government 

  • Fundraiser next week
  • Movie event before February break

Freshman Class Government Report

  • Working on their class fundraiser for Valentines Day
  • Beginning to plan for a Non Sibi Day event

Mr. O’Neill’s Report

  • They have 2 more credit card raiders
  • Requesting that clubs and fundraisers submit their requests for credit card readers as early as possible

Principal Report

  • Thanked current leaders for all their effort over the last year as this is the last house meeting with the current student leaders. 

Ms. Weiss report 

  • Humanities teachers have requested to have chromebook carts in every English and social studies classroom
  • The school administration has put in a request but the district wants more feedback before they process it. It will cost approximately $70,000 in the budget
  • Student opinions
    • Students had mixed thoughts however most did not appear to think the issue was important. Many shared that they did not use the class chromebooks very often. Also shared concerns about the technology issues from the current chromebooks
  • Principal Bonamo shared that they plan to work with the Technology department to improve any technology issues such as computers lagging.
  • Teachers Opinions
    • Humanities teachers shared that the logistics of using the carts make them difficult to use. They do appreciate the ability to use a tool called ClassTools to monitor student work during assessment due to rising concerns about AI.

Ms. Summerfield and Mr. Paul – Non Sibi day update

  • They are encouraging students to run sessions and asking student government for help to influence students to run service-based sessions
  • They also have ideas for the class governments to hold class sessions such as a session for the junior class, held by the junior class government. This event could also be a bonding event for the students
  • Encouraging students to reach out to them with questions or concerns

Common Tutorial Munchkin Surprise

  • Class government members shared positive thoughts on the surprise. They enjoyed seeing school government members stationed by the commons and library handing out free munchkins during common tutorial on 1/14
  • Part of bigger wellness initiatives by the student government.
  • Class government members brainstored other suggestions for goodies to hand out/when to hand them out
    • Ice pops in spring
    • Munchkins during the week before break
    • Goodies during AP Season

Peer Lead Learning Week

  • Occurs the week after spring break; Allows students to teach a class on a topic of their choice to present during a class period 
  • However, the majority of students don’t participate in it. What are ways to encourage more students to take part in the program?
    • More publicity
      • Specifically for the Freshman 
      • School gov making a video?
    • Providing students with examples of past presentations for inspiration
    • Encouraging students to do presentations with their friends!
  • Needs to maintain student-driven
    • Ms. O’Gorman explained that the success of the program is not based on how many students participate. Rather, it’s about providing students with a space to share what they are passionate about with their peers.
