On December 7th and 9th, the Maroon and White organization hosted its annual Maroon and White basketball tournament.  The four teams participating were Tappan Zee, Somers, South Bronx and Scarsdale.  To kick off the event, Tappan Zee beat Somers 67-57 on Thursday, December 7th.  Then, Scarsdale played its home opener against South Bronx on Friday, December 8th.  The Raiders came out of the game strong and never let up as they blew out South Bronx 69 – 35. “It was nice to get the win at home. We came out strong, and we did the job,” said 1st year player Connor McCarthy ’19.

Scarsdale and Tappan Zee were projected to play the championship game the following day, December 9th.  However, due to poor weather conditions, the game has been rescheduled to take place on January 27th, but the Scarsdale players and coaches are trying to move the game to a closer date.

Since the tournament, Scarsdale has played three games: two losses away to Rye and Horace Greeley, and a home win over Clarkstown North.  Nash Goldman ’18 secured this victory with 27 points, making the team’s record 4-2.  Looking ahead, the Raiders will be travelling to Miami during the December Break to play in their annual Florida tournament.  There, Scarsdale will face nationally ranked teams from Maryland and Florida.
