Updates from April 2024 House Meeting

Here’s a summary of what was spoken about on April 4th:

  • Principal Bonamo was very happy with how successful Jabberfest and the chorus concert were. He will also be attending the Global Education Benchmark Group conference.
  • The PTA has been helping out with planning prom.
  • The freshmen class government ran a successful bake sale that raised a lot of funds for their budget. They will also be running the dunk tank at the annual carnival, which will be on April 12-13, and they plan on organizing one more big event before the end of the school year.
  • The sophomore class government will run the Strong Man station at the carnival. They have a bake sale coming up in May as well.
  • The junior class government has been busy planning the Junior Olympics, starting with t-shirt designs and tracking down people to buy their shirts. They will be grilling at the carnival.
  • The senior class government is working on a new Senior Sunrise event on April 15th, where they will hang out with games, music, and food. They are also working on the money and venue for the prom.
  • The school government has been getting through more club applications. They have also been working on the carnival, spring pep rally, and spirit week. On Friday during spirit week, they are planning on running a schoolwide necklace game. Students will get a necklace and play rock paper scissors. The loser gives up their necklace and the game goes on until there is one winner.
  • During the rest of the meeting, class governments advised each other on how to run each stand at the carnival. A student achievement program was discussed to brainstorm how to better recognize talented students.
  • Ways to support students during finals were discussed, such as teachers recording lectures.
