On November 16th, 2017, over 1000 high school students attended the annual Princeton Model United Nations Conference.  Kids travelled from all over the country and world to participate in the four day event.   After the Opening Ceremonies, we all went our separate ways to our different committee rooms.  I was in the Disarmament and International Security Committee, typically known as DISEC.  Each DISEC delegate was assigned to do research and write a position paper on one of the two focus topics: Cybersecurity in the 21st century or the Small Arms Trade in Latin America, which were referred to as Topic A and Topic B, respectively.  All students in DISEC worked with a partner from their same high school who researched whichever topic they did not.  As every pair represented a different nation, my partner and I acted as the Federative Republic of Brazil.   After much debate and many speeches, the members of DISEC voted to discuss Topic A.  Throughout the following two days, we pitched various ideas to solve the global issue and brainstormed the steps we must take as a committee, just like the real UN.  In addition, the Scarsdale Model UN Team had the opportunity to venture into the town of Princeton and take a look at the college campus.  Overall, I had an extremely educational, yet enjoyable experience at the Princeton Model United Nations Conference and hope to have the chance to return as a senior to make many more incredible memories.
