The 73rd UN General Assembly opened on the 18th of of September for all of the 193 United Nations members to discuss current issues, including world security and recent developments. Many of the highlights came from Donald Trump, the President of the United States.

      Despite his late arrival, Trump noted many developments in his own presidency, as well as addressing current situations; the main issues that the United States wished to discuss were non-proliferation, humanitarian assistance, counterterrorism, and reform of the UN itself. “In less than two years my administration has accomplished more than almost any other administration in the history of my country,” stated Trump as he garnered a slight chuckle from the crowd, which he noted he did not expect. Trump also addressed problems with Iran, claiming that Iran’s dictatorship was corrupt and that “economic pressure” should be asserted on Iran to avoid the destruction that would follow the current government.  Trump also discussed the situation between the tensions in North Korea and the United States; his speech regarding this matter was much more delicate as compared to his speech last year, where he referred to Kim Jong Un as a “rocket man”. This year he proved to take matters more seriously in an attempt to discuss and resolve global issues.
