Sophomore Government Book and Can Drive
December 30, 2017
With the holidays approaching, the sophomore class government is collecting books and cans to donate to charity. Boxes have been placed at popular locations around SHS, including the gyms, the Brewster and Post entrances, the cafeteria, and the A-School wing. Although the sophomore government is hosting the drive, students of all grades are encouraged to bring in any surplus non-perishable cans or books that they have at home. All proceeds will go directly to the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, which allows families of hospitalized children to stay close to their kids, in addition to abundant resources. “The government wanted to find a way to give back this holiday season, so we decided to have a drive for the Ronald McDonald house at Maria Fareri,” explained government representative Kelly Kim ‘20.
“Giving back to the community is such an important and amazing thing to do. The sophomore government hopes that everyone will pitch in and gather together to donate to this amazing foundation,” added Alison Chan ‘20. Be sure to bring in any cans or books you aren’t using and donate to a great cause!
