Raise the Ruff for Therapy Dogs!

On Thursday, December 21st, the SHS School Government held the Therapy Dog Event in the Little Theater during early and late lunch. The therapy dogs were a part of the school government’s initiatives to help the students of SHS de-stress. The idea was initially raised last year. The dogs were from New York Therapy Dogs and, with over 100 students in attendance, the event was a huge success. “Everyone was excited to go in and came out happy and glad they had spent the time with the therapy dogs. It was great to see everyone relaxing and having fun,” commented Sydney Vleck ’18. Sydney Vleck is just one of the members of student government who executed the therapy dog event. The students also adored it. “It should definitely be done again; I really enjoyed it!” Sofia Garrido Fajardo ’20 exclaimed. While the event was the epitome of joy to dog lovers, people with dog or fur allergies could not attend. In addition, students who did not realize that there was a sign-up sheet online were not able to attend. Although, towards the end, the dogs were slightly overwhelmed by the sheer amount of people lining up to pet them, the therapy dog event did help many students de-stress and relax with some furry friends.
