Mudslides in California
January 15, 2018
Recently, mudslides have been ravaging southern California, causing mass destruction and almost two dozen fatalities. Many roads and highways have been blocked, along with hundreds of people losing their homes due to the extensive damage. Storms have been responsible for these mudslides by causing the mud in the area to liquefy, resulting in a rapid surge. California officials are actively trying to control the situation, especially due to additional imminent storms that are expected to arrive in the near future. The rescuers are continuing to search for people who may be trapped in the mud. Some counties, such as Ventura, have issued SOS alerts due to the situation, which may continue to intensify. Victims of the mudslides ranged from ages 3 to 89. Santa Barbara, another county that has been severely affected, at the moment, has had the most deaths thus far in the recent mudslides. Rescuers and officials continue working diligently.
