Principal Bonamo

  • Quarterly update – based on rolling gradebook positive feedback, will be rolling out a student portal for grades (ie open grade book)
  • Common lunch – very positive so far but waiting to see what happens with rain, received positive and negative feedback
  • June 3 – form for students, parents, and teachers to determine how pilot programs goes
  • Bonamo Discussed the Capital Projects Committee at the District level is determining what projects the district will pursue across all schools.
    • Current bond – allows 40 mil in projects, current list from schools abt projects is 109 mil
    • One of the possible projects is removing some lockers to make counters in the hallways for work -> Would be a possible way to make more space
      • BUT would not allow removable tables and chairs bc it’s a fire hazard

Common Lunch Opinions

  • More people going outside, enjoy the weather – interested to see what happens when it rains
  • Good for Junior class to drive and go get food
  • Longer time to eat food, Allows for people to eat with more of their friends
  • Students able to eat and get work done, Library generally pretty empty and quite, Students utilizing time to meet with teachers and study
  • Lines, specifically in commons are not the best, crowd control?
  • Sometimes period feels too long
  • Major Problem: Bc of schedule change, early bus leaves too early – at 208 when bell rings for end of 7th period so nobody is able to take that bus
  • Nobody using the hallways – lots of people don’t like the idea of having to use them
    • Students also eating in classrooms with teacher permission
  • DID YOU KNOW: Little theatre is designated study space!

Questions/Concerns

  • Is it feasible knowing that seniors are missing (400 ppl) -> definitely more crowded, Really only makes sense during spring
  • How is food service dealing – are they making too much food since most people are leaving?

Moving Forward

  • Bonamo believes that if  the administration receives mainly support for the idea then they may pursue another pilot program in September to test how common lunch works with Seniors
    • But the Board of Ed’s decision also plays a role

Pep rally Discussion

  • Past three years, school spirit is decreasing, people not showing up, pep rally rarely any seniors or juniors
  • How can we highlight/support our amazing athletes more?
  • Pep rally alternatives? getting rid of it? Only one pep rally in fall/spring?
    • Ppl do the same things every time, Spirit weeks are hard to participate in
    • But are good for team bonding
    • Many find it boring
