Local Activities over February Break
February 18, 2018
Break is the right around the corner, and while there are those of us who might be going away, many will be spending the next week at home. Here is a list of fun things to do while you’re on a staycation.
Ice Skating: Ice skating is always a fun activity for the winter, and there are many local rinks in Westchester for residents to enjoy. Some of these include Westchester Skating Academy, Hommocks Park Ice Rink, and Ebersole Ice Rink. If you want to go to a bigger rink and are up for a longer drive, you can visit a rink in the city. The most popular ones include the ice rinks in Bryant Park, Central Park, and Rockefeller Center.
Grab a milkshake at Lazy Boy Saloon: Lazy Boy Saloon, located in White Plains, serves up some decadent milkshakes, similar to the renowned ones served at Black Tap NYC. The milkshakes range from 7-12 dollars, and the restaurant offers a variety of flavors, including cotton candy and chocolate chip cookie. If you’re ever in the mood for a tasty dessert, be sure to stop at Lazy Boy!
Watch the Winter Olympics: During the break, the Winter Olympics are going to be in full swing. Watch the athletes figure skate, ski, play ice hockey, and more in this global showcase of athletic talent.
Catch up on all the Oscar nominated movies: The Oscars are coming up, and this break would be an ideal time to watch the movies that have been nominated, and you haven’t seen yet. Some of these include The Shape of Water, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, and Dunkirk. Many of these movies are available to stream at home, or you might still be able to catch them in theaters.
Go to the mall: Even though it is still cold outside, there’s no time like now to buy a new spring wardrobe. Go to the Westchester, the Galleria, or even shop in the city with your friends or family for a fun outing.
Spend a day in NYC: The city is only a half hour train ride away, so spend a fun day out with your friends and family. Explore a new neighborhood, try a new restaurant, or see a new show—there’s lots to do in Manhattan in the winter!
