Here is the rundown:
- The PTA’s Summer Activities Fair, showcasing many potential summer experiences and job opportunities for our students, was a big success. They have also begun planning for pre-prom.
- The Junior Class Government ran a successful toy drive for El Centro Hispano in partnership with the Spanish Club. On the mornings of January 25 and 26, they distributed acts of kindness candy at the school. They are planning a cleanup with Project Green.
- The Sophomore Class Government has also been very busy planning the annual SHS blood drive.
- The Freshmen Class Government will run their Amazing Race class activity this upcoming Friday. They plan to go to a New York Mets baseball game in May.
- The School Government is reviewing club applications to admit new clubs.
- Teacher feedback forms were discussed, brainstorming possible ways to improve these forms to get better responses and get teachers to implement the suggestions in their classrooms.
- The rolling grade book was discussed. Students expressed their opinions on whether they preferred the quarter-grade system or the new one. A definite conclusion regarding the future of the program can likely only be reached at the end of the school year, once the new policy has been in place for a long enough period to see its effects.
- With warm weather approaching, a conversation was had about ways to improve the outdoor lunch experience.
