On Monday, the Boys’ Tennis team continued their regular season success in sub-regionals with a win at Middletown High School against Cornwall. The team is set to play in regionals in Binghamton on Thursday and will look to move on to states if they can come out on top.

Led by Sam Saeed ’25 and Jack Reis ’26, the team performed well in the regular season, dominating the section with a 9-1 record in sectional play. In the playoffs, the Raiders beat Horace Greeley in their first matchup. They followed that up with a win against Clarkstown South on Sunday in the sectional semifinals. In the finals, they defeated John Jay-Cross River, winning the section and advancing to regional play.

After the win on Monday against Cornwall, success at the state level is as close as ever for the Raiders. The players know, however, that they need to remain focused in order to come out on top; this level of competition is more than they are used to.

“We’ve been super focused for the past two weeks… Especially when our [regular] season ended, we started taking practice more seriously… Everyone was training really hard… staying after [practice] and just trying to improve as much as possible,” Will Mishra ’25, who plays first doubles with Michael Marks ’23, explained.

“[Michael and I are] both really aggressive players, which helps us work together and win,” Mishra described. The duo’s teamwork allowed them to reach the round of sixteen in the Section 1 Individual tournament.

Through their determination and teamwork, the Raiders have proven themselves as a capable team and plan on achieving even more in the future.
