The SHS auditorium recently served a new purpose: a runway. On Friday, January 24, SHS club “Up-2-D8” held a fashion show, with all of the proceeds donated to Kids Kloset, a local organization that provides clothing to underprivileged children. Models wore clothing created by members of the club. The show was successful, and over $1500 was raised. “I think it went very well and we had a lot more people coming than I expected,” said President of Up-2-D8 Jenny Kahn ’21.

Up-2-D8 is a sustainable fashion club where members learn how to revamp their old clothes into new and stylish outfits. Each member of the club was required to create at least two garments for the show, with a total of thirty outfits. The ten models walked down the runway three times, each time modeling a different piece. “I loved seeing how the clothes were reworked into different outfits. This was a really innovative way to help the environment,” commented attendee Joshi Arora ’21. Through the fashion show, Kahn was able to spread awareness for her club, as well as raise money for charity. “We hope that from viewing the garments in the fashion show, people will now donate their clothes or try to rework them instead of throwing them away,” said Kahn.
