SHS Cafeteria Implements New Sandwich Ordering System

PC: Maroon Staff

SHS’ sandwich-ordering app, Nutrislice, is a convenient and valuable addition to the cafeteria and reduces wait time for made-to-order sandwiches.

The deli counter is arguably the most popular food station at Scarsdale High School’s cafeteria, and as a result, long lines are usually a common sight. Serving made-to-order sandwiches, the deli offers a fresh and delicious lunch option for SHS. The lines, however, are enough to keep students waiting up to fifteen minutes for a sandwich, and as a solution, the SHS cafeteria recently implemented online ordering via Nutrislice. Nutrislice is available either through the Scarsdale High School’s cafeteria website, or through an app on Google Play and the Apple App Store

To order a sandwich, students must make their selections on Nutrislice before 8 a.m. the morning that they want to pick up the sandwich. Students have the same selections as they would in the deli counter with the major exception that only cold sandwiches are offered.

The app is easy to use with a clear layout for ordering. In my experience, the sandwich pick-up line—which is located at the Snack Shop in the lower cafeteria—is short, with a wait time usually under one minute. Once at the Snack Shop, students give their name to a cafeteria employee, and their sandwich is given to them.

The sandwiches made have been just as good as the ones from the deli counter, and my orders have been correct all five times I’ve used Nutrislice. I wish that hot sandwiches were offered, but I find the convenience of a short wait to outweigh a hot sandwich.

Overall, Nutrislice is a convenient and valuable addition to the SHS cafeteria, reducing wait time for made-to-order sandwiches.
