Dreams came true on Friday, April 24 as freshman, sophomores, and juniors had the chance to rent a senior of their choice for the day. A simple payment of $10 and the former “big dogs on campus” became servants to the lower classman. A senior’s day consisted of food runs, carrying backpacks, chauffeuring, and anything else the renter desired. “She bought me mac and cheese from Langes and an iced tea lemonade,” stated Kendall Bensche ’17 about Livvy Meyers ’15, whom she rented. And that was after Meyers had already driven her to school and walked her to all her classes. For some seniors, their jobs as servants for the day not only included physically supplying their renter with whatever they wanted, but also emotionally supporting them. “She gave me a pep talk before my Spanish test,” exclaimed Sophia Mohlulis ’17 about Anna Braverman ’15, “I think it helped me do a lot better.” The renters not only commanded what the seniors did for them throughout the day, but also what embarrassing costume they would be sporting. Bensche described Meyers as wearing black metallic pants, multi-colored converse, red high socks, a yellow tutu, bunny ears, and a sign that read, “Property of Kennalicious.” Braverman, on the other hand, was sporting a full-body banana suit. “I got asked to prom in the banana suit,” she explained, when asked the highlight of her day. From clown suits, to banana costumes, and everything in between, there’s no limit to the humiliating creativity seen on rent-a-senior day.
