On Monday, April 28th, the SHS Chamber and Symphonic Orchestra Ensembles held their annual spring concert. While it was the first spring concert for many, some members of the SHS orchestras took their final bow as part of the SHS orchestras.
Both orchestras presented vibrant repertoires. SHS Chamber Orchestra performed Mozart’s “Divertimento in F Major,” Hoffmeister’s “Viola Concerto in D Major” with Audrey Li ‘26 as the soloist, and two selections from Grieg’s “Two Norwegian Airs.” SHS Symphonic Orchestra played Purcell’s “Chacony in G Minor,” selections from Nielsen’s “Kleine Suite,” and Vaughan Williams’ “Five Variants of ‘Dives and Lazarus.”
The evening became emotional when members of the Class of 2025 delivered heartfelt thank-you speeches to SHS Orchestra Director, Amedee Williams. To end the night, the Symphonic Orchestra was then joined by members of the SHS Band and played Marquez’s “Danzon No. 2” together, finishing their performance with a dynamic melody.
