In Scarsdale, there is no shortage of bagel stores with many fan favorites including Scarsdale Bagels and Sammy’s New York Bagels. Even with all of the existing stores, a new shop was recently added to the mix. On Friday, November 15th, The Bagel Emporium opened its doors directly in the Scarsdale Village. This location is just steps away from the hustle and bustle of the train station, and from Chase Park, making it easy to access for commuters and families alike. When the weather gets warmer, there will undoubtedly be sightings of people situated at park benches or picnic tables, munching away at their bagels.
The Bagel Emporium is not just a bagel shop, as its menu features a wide range of options. Other than bagels, their menu includes breakfast items like omelets, and sandwiches, lunch items such as salads and wraps, and even sweet treats including cookies and cakes. Even so, the shop is still filled with bagels! The Bagel Emporium has a whopping thirty-five different types of bagels including the classic bagel types, like plain and everything, whole-wheat bagels, specialty flavors, and even flagels.
Unlike most of Scarsdale’s current bagel shops, The Bagel Emporium is a franchise that offers services across Westchester and even the nation. Although its physical stores are located only in Westchester, it can ship bagels nationwide for online orders. Additionally, it can cater events all through Westchester with a specific catering menu.
The new store has a clean, industrial feel, reminding visitors of its new development. Rows and rows of bagels under glass give the store a very organized feel, and a white-tiled open area in the middle of the store allows plenty of area for customers to mill around and take a look at the wide variety of bagels before making their selections.
SHS students are already quite familiar with the bagel shop and its selections. “The everything bagels are extremely tasty, and they have all sorts of other great options,” Jacob Barr ’27 explained. “I particularly like their many coffee options, like the iced coffee, which is great before school.” Barr went even as far as to say that The Bagel Emporium “might just be [his] favorite bagel store in Scarsdale!”
Barr is not the only student with high praise. Alice Nicassio ’27 described the bagels as “fluffy,” “absolutely delicious,” and “toasted to the perfect blend of crunchiness versus softness.” Nicassio even loves going to the Emporium at any time of the day.
Clearly, this new store has already made a big impact on Scarsdale students. As The Bagel Emporium continues to grow in popularity, only time will tell if the store overtakes the original Scarsdale bagel shops.
