There is no shortage of clubs at SHS, with the number increasing each and every year. This year, two new exciting additions to this list included Scarsdale Future Health Leaders and the A.I. Club.

Scarsdale Future Health Leaders

Scarsdale Future Health Leaders was founded by two juniors, Jasleen Virk ‘27 and Clara Liu ‘27. The two held the club’s first interest meeting on Monday, October 27th. “So many people showed up and it was really nice to see, like what we’ve done really matters. It’s like this is a club that can actually make a difference,” Virk shared.

She and Liu strive to address the shortage of healthcare workers in our world today, and aim to provide SHS students with the opportunity to explore different areas of healthcare and medicine. With a diverse group of student officers specializing in various health-related topics, the club hopes to offer information in as many aspects of healthcare as possible.

Having noticed the school’s lack of opportunities to learn about medicine and healthcare, the two are especially passionate about educating their fellow students. “People know about doctors, they know about Grey’s Anatomy, but TV shows don’t have the most accurate portrayals, and I feel like in that way, people have this unrealistic idea of medicine, so this club is to kind of share what is medicine,” Liu commented.

Liu expressed an interest in psychology and has done prior research with a child specialist professor. For Virk, both of her parents are doctors, hence her natural passion for science. Virk also researches cancer in the school’s science research program.

“I think especially today in medicine, it’s so competitive, and the main way people get it through is their parents, and that’s fine, but it creates a gap between people who have no experience,” Liu added.

Both Virk and Liu are very excited for the growth of the club and to help people pursue their passions. Students can attend future club meetings at the beginning of common lunch, which meets every Monday in room 388.

A.I. Club

Wentao He ‘27, the founder of A.I. Club, is passionate about educating students in A.I., the innovative technology that has taken the world by storm in recent years. The club has two main missions. “The first one is to promote A.I. literacy. We feel like the uses of A.I. and also the responsible use of A.I. hasn’t been publicized as much, so we feel like with this club we could not only teach other people how to use A.I., but how to use it responsibly,” He explained. “Our second mission would be more technical, about teaching people how to actually make an A.I. For example, this would cover things like basic lessons on programming,” He elaborated.

In addition to his core missions, He plans to teach people how to use the many tools available on the internet to build and train their own A.I. model specifically for entering competitions later on.

He also wants to encourage students who may not have much experience with A.I. as well. Any students with interest in A.I. can go to room 354 every Tuesday after school to learn more about it. He looks forward to seeing the club grow in the future.

With their founders’ dedication and increasing student interest, Scarsdale Future Health Leaders and AI club will likely make a lasting impact on the SHS community for years to come. 2025 has introduced inspiring clubs, and Scarsdale High School can only look forward to what’s to come in 2026.
