“BB.Q Chicken” Brings Korean Fried Chicken to Hartsdale

February 5, 2020

Delicately battered, flaky to the touch, and touting a sunny golden hue, BB.Q Chicken’s fried chicken does not disappoint! Located on 357 N Central Avenue in Hartsdale, the Korean fried chicken joint has a vast selection of flavors and varieties, ranging from their infamous original to honey garlic and secret spicy. The store itself is small, as orders are usually made for delivery or pickup. The staff was friendly and helpful. The preparation of the chicken takes approximately 30 minutes, a fair amount of wait time. Their “munchies,” a variety of sides, include the usuals: french fries and cheese sticks. Their specialized Korean food encompasses classics, such as Tteok-bokki and rice bowls, and they also have lunch specials and wings.

I ordered boneless half and half chicken for $22.95, a combo of the original and hot spicy, as well french fries for $4.95. The original chicken was the perfect combo of succulent and crunchy, fried to a golden crispy level and tauntingly nestled together in the box. However, the hot spicy was debilitatingly piquant, burning tongues and turning mouths an angry red. The heat was slow and over time one could feel the heat burning their throat. The hot spicy chicken was still delicious though, possessing a sweet, tangy flavor past the initial spiciness. The fries were a part of the softer, soggier variety; if you prefer golden, crispy ones, these fries were not for you. The half and half chicken was enough for three people to enjoy.

BB.Q Chicken has brought a new cultural experience to Hartsdale, and has proven itself to be a great addition for fried chicken addicts like me.
