SHS Gymnastics Team Takes Sectionals
February 17, 2020
Flipping, cartwheeling, handstanding, and jumping, the SHS Girls gymnastics team competed this week at Sectionals, held at Anne Dorner Middle School in Ossining, New York.
According to SHS gymnastics team member Charlotte Bonnano ’21, “this wasn’t our best year, score-wise, at Sectionals.” However, according to Bonnano, while no one from the SHS gymnastics team placed at Sectionals this year, most individuals are content with their performances.
Bonanno, who competed all-around, meaning in vault, bars, beam, and floor, is satisfied with her performance in all events, but most proud of her floor routine. Bonnano received the highest score of the SHS gymnastics team for this routine but cites that the Scarsdale gymnastics team as a whole performed well on the floor as a whole.
“While the team didn’t excel, per se, or place, people left pretty happy with how we did. There were no huge mistakes that we made,” explained Bonnano.
All in all, Bonanno summed up Sectionals as a really great experience. “I think the team agrees that we have had a really great season. We really like competing together and can’t wait for next year’s season,” concluded Bonanno.
