Scarsdale Boys’ Soccer: A Season to Remember

The Scarsdale High School boys’ soccer team wraps up yet another unforgettable season

After winning three sectional titles, three regional titles, and two state championships, the Scarsdale High School’s boys’ soccer team has wrapped up their phenomenal three-year run.
Achieving that level of success is no small feat. For players, balancing the time commitment to a sports team with the workload of school can be a challenge. “It comes down to time management and planning ahead,” Nick Faraco ’26 shared, highlighting the dedication required to excel in both. “[Playing soccer] helped me develop these really good habits of doing work early [such as] going to office hours for extra help whenever I’m stuck, and what this has done is made me do all my work very efficiently in a timely manner so I don’t have too many assignments piling up before big games,” Logan Lim ’25 explained.

Looking back on the season, Faraco described it as “unforgettable,” and it is clear why. Being moved up to Class AAA proved to be a challenging yet rewarding experience for the team. Despite facing tougher competition as compared to previous years, Scarsdale’s players rose to the occasion and showcased their determination, skill, and unwavering team spirit. This was evident after the team captured their third consecutive Section 1 title following an exhilarating 3-2 win over the talented Arlington team, who were the defending Section 1 champions and are four-time state title holders.
“Beating Arlington [was my favorite moment in the season]. After they broke our winning streak, we were going for revenge. It felt amazing beating them and ending [their winning streak]” said Faraco.

However, the team’s success did not end there. Less than a week later, the team won the regional championship, securing a spot in the semifinals of the state tournament bracket. It was during the tightly contested regional championship game that the team was defeated by Shaker, bringing their season to a close.

Over the past few years in particular, the team exemplified the power of commitment and teamwork, leaving a lasting mark on Scarsdale’s athletic program. Along the way, they gained invaluable life lessons. “Being true to yourself and believing in yourself can really take you a long way,” expressed Lim. As the players reflect on a season filled with adversity and triumphs, they leave behind a legacy that is already a part of SHS history.
