Meet Your 2019-2020 Class Government Officers
The sophomore, junior, and senior class government officers were voted for on May 23rd. Here’s what the elected representatives hope to accomplish this upcoming year:
Izzy Lelis: Senior Class President
“I hope to make our last year at SHS the best. Since the beginning of senior year is known to be stressful with college applications, I want to focus on helping the wellness of the seniors and lessen the stress with different events. We are also starting to plan for prom already which is one event that I look forward to greatly!”
Justin Mandel: Senior Class Vice President
“I am looking forward to starting off the year with senior chalking and then planning prom and graduation. While we are nearing our end of our school government careers, we have a lot to do in the final months, all of which is quite exciting. I anticipate it will be another successful and enjoyable year for our class government.”
Margaret Kantor: Senior Class Treasurer
“I am excited to be apart of the class government for our final year. I want to make our last year of high school the best it can be. This coming year, I hope to have as many people as possible to come to government-planned events and enjoy bonding as a class for one last time.”
Gabe Lesser: Senior Class Treasurer
“As treasurer, I hope to continue organizing our budget and preparing for big events senior year, which include grilling at the homecoming game and our prom in May. As part of student government, I am excited for our senior year and hope to plan some fun senior year activities: for instance, maybe a scavenger hunt or a class breakfast. I hope to make our last year of high school super memorable!”
Lily Kronenberg: Senior Class Secretary
“The Junior Class Government organized several successful events this year, and we are looking forward to having many great events next year. In the fall, we will be grilling at all of the football games and helping to plan fun senior traditions, such as designing class t-shirts. We are on track for prom right now, although we still have a lot of planning ahead of us. I am excited to continue working...
Spencer Sheppe: Senior Class Secretary
“I am excited to plan prom and graduation. I am interested in promoting wellness as we enter a tough year, but I am excited for us to become seniors!”
Alison Chan: Senior Class House Representative
“I’ve been a house representative since freshman year, and I’ve always loved being more involved with school events such as the annual class event, carnival, and annual community dinner. I’m super excited to be working with a great group of people in government this year, many of whom I’ve worked with for the past three years. For senior year, I’m excited to plan prom, graduation, and many...
Rishabh Gharekhan: Senior Class House Representative
“I am really excited to finish my high school career on a high note and a part of government. In addition, I hope to help implement new spirit weeks and a system where students can reach out to their officials.”
Josh Mandel: Senior Class House Representative
“Next year, I am most excited about providing an amazing year for my senior classmates as we transition out of high school.”
Andrew Morin: Senior Class House Representative
“I think we have a great group of people elected this year, and I look forward to working with them. I think one of our challenges, especially on the class level, is breaking out of our traditional activities and trying new events and ways to engage other students, so I look forward to trying some new things out next year. I think we have a lot of opportunity to bring people together and relieve...
Michael Waxman: Junior Class President
"Although many say that junior year is a tough year at SHS, I think next year is going to be a great year for the class of 2021. My main goal as president is continuing to host fun and charitable events that unify our grade and include as many people as possible. I know that school can be stressful at times, so these events are crucial for alleviating stress in a healthy way. I plan to have more fun...
Emmett Goldstein: Junior Class Vice President
“While being a junior may be very overwhelming, as members of government, it gives us an opportunity to plan great class bonding events designed around stress relief. Our class events the past two years, the free ice cream party, and the upcoming amazing race, have both been centered around connecting the class and having fun, but going forward I think we should explore events that can help students...
Adam Wasserman: Junior Class Treasurer
“For next year, I’m most excited for our Junior Olympics. The experience of organizing and holding the Amazing Race will give us insight into how to plan the competitive events in Junior Olympics. I would like to plan more community service activities for our class next year. The government should organize bake sales to donate money to charity and also plan hands-on charity events that encourage...
Anya Kornfeld: Junior Class Secretary
“I am incredibly excited for the upcoming year and optimistic that the government will work hard to make it the best year possible. Despite the grim stereotypes that commonly circle junior year, I am faithful that we will be able to bring the grade together and create a positive atmosphere. We look forward to organizing the annual Wizard’s Game and running the barbecue at the school’s carnival—both...
Molly Bochner: Junior Class House Representative
“ Next year, there will be many fun events and I am thrilled to help plan them. These include Junior Olympics, the Wizards Game, and of course our annual class event. If you have a great idea, let me know! My hope is to create enjoyable and memorable events that everyone in our grade can enjoy and remember. I can’t wait!”
Evan Dershowitz: Junior Class House Representative
“I would say that I am most excited next year for the increased number of responsibilities that I will have as a junior officer. I, along with my fellow class officers, will have to plan class events, cook food at the carnival, have numerous sales, and so much more. An idea I have for next year is to increase the number of sales we have so we can give more money to charity.”
Megan Niu: Junior Class House Representative
“I’m so excited to be one of your house representatives next year! Even though junior year will be stressful, the government will organize lots of fun events. There’s so much to look forward to, like the Harlem Wizards basketball game, food at the carnival, Junior Olympics, and a class event. As house rep, I hope to make next year the best year yet!”
Clara Weller: Junior Class House Representative
"I’m really excited to work on the Harlem Wizards game and eventually the Junior Olympics!”

“I am so excited to have another great year! Being president has taught me so much, and I can’t wait to make change.”
Amelia Lane: Sophomore Class Vice President
"I'm so excited to be a part of government to help represent our sophomore class. I loved being a part of the government all three years in middle school, so I'm glad to be back! Next year, I hope I can organize more charity events, and I’d also love to help bring up our school spirit with more great activities that everyone can participate in. Specifically, I can’t wait to contribute to another...
Anna Forest: Sophomore Class Treasurer
“As treasurer, I plan to stay very organized and make sure to put in as much time and effort it takes to get the job done. Along with that, I am thrilled to be able to contribute ideas to better the school and plan awesome events for next year. My main goal would be to create many events/fundraisers, both in and out of school, to raise the Scarsdale spirit! I plan to make next year a great one...
Ava Londa: Sophomore Class Secretary
“I’m super excited for many things next year! We worked really hard this year to practice and prepare for bigger events like the blood drive which we have already started talking about and are all so excited for. I am also excited to be doing more things to bring our whole class together!”
Ryan Cahaly: Sophomore Class House Representative
“This year, I’m looking forward to continuing the success the government had freshman year. One thing I want to do is improve the communication with students and government to better incorporate the students voices.”
Lizzie Hurshman: Sophomore Class House Representative
“As a house representative next year, I hope to keep the momentum going and have many events early in the year, since we found a lot of success at the end of this school year. I want people to be happy and excited to come to school and I hope our government can help to do this with more school spirit and events thought the year.”
Justine Karp: Sophomore Class House Representative

“I am excited to be in government for a second year because this past year, we learned the most effective ways to complete certain tasks, and now we can use this knowledge to successfully plan many fun events in the years to come. I think next year will be great because everyone elected for government cares a lot about making our activities and ideas the best that they can be. We all work well together...
