H4H Gingerbread House Decorating
January 8, 2020
The Habitat for Humanity club hosted its annual gingerbread house event to commence the holiday festivities. The younger children of Scarsdale participating in the gingerbread house building, held in the SHS cafeteria on December 13th, were welcomed to the event with cheerful Christmas music and winter-themed decorations. Members of Habitat for Humanity began decorating the room, organizing the candy, and building the homes immediately after school ended.
Families quickly filed into the SHS cafeteria to start this creative and exciting experience. Tables were lined with a variety of candy and frosting. SHS students involved with Habitat for Humanity collected candy to decorate the gingerbread houses, managed the ticket sales, and helped the children build and decorate their gingerbread houses. Habitat for Humanity hosts this annual event to raise money to build houses for war veterans or families struggling financially in Westchester county.
The event was a success; it was fun and contributed to a great cause.
