Thank You From the Ders Puck Captains

“I just want to start off by thanking everyone who came out to support at our games. It was awesome looking up into the stands and seeing the wave of maroon. DersFaithful was truly faithful this year. The fan section went from 7 to several hundred kids over my career at Scarsdale. I can’t believe that it is all over, but want to thank you guys for being apart of the derspuck family. It was truly an honor being your captain. I couldn’t be more proud of my teammates and wish them the best of luck next year. Every time we put on that Scarsdale jersey we were playing for something more than ourselves, we were playing for all of you. You guys always had our backs, whether it be on twitter (@don) or in the stands/parking lots (@schwab). The support from the faculty at SHS was incredible. Seeing Mr. Szkolar and Mr. Draper at every one of our games really made us feel important to the school. We believe that we put scarsdale hockey on the map and want to thank all of you for helping us do that. I’m sorry that we couldn’t pull out the W for you guys in Utica, but we are still and will forever be the best PUBLIC SCHOOL in the state. Thanks for all the memories. You guys made these past couple of months the best months of my life. #dersfam”

“At the beginning of my freshmen year, the varsity hockey fan base was the parents. Now, four years later, to think that hundreds of kids would come 4 hours to support that same program is incredible. Raiders hockey (or derspuck) has truly been one of the most amazing and incredible experiences not only in high school but my entire life. To have our peers come out and support us with such enthusiasm and heart truly made me proud to put that jersey on. I love playing hockey, but I loved representing my school even more. To everyone who came out to watch us play, thank you for putting raiders hockey on the map with us.”

“Coming into high school, I had never
really heard of high school hockey and didn’t know what it was about. I thought of it as a time to practice and play more hockey. I never thought it could become as popular as it became this year. During my freshman year, not much of the school believed in us, yet as our season went on our fan base slowly grew. Since then, more and more people have come to the games. As this happened, our mindsets changed. The varsity team no longer wanted to win for just our team, but for our school, and everyone who came to watch. Every time we put our jersey on, we felt like we had the entire school behind us. Thank you so much to @Ders_Faithful and the entire school for making the hockey team one of the best experiences of my life. Without you guys, it wouldn’t have been the same.”
