Girls’ Soccer Season 2015

Girls+Soccer+Season+2015

Scarsdale High School’s varsity girls’ soccer team has made playoffs after a highly successful season, especially on the league stage. The team has finished the season with a record of 12 wins, 2 losses and 1 tie and remained undefeated in their league. This feat occurred for the first time ever in Coach Mindy Genovese’s history of working with Scarsdale’s team. The team has been ranked number two out of 18 teams in Section 1 and heads into playoffs with high expectations. “In playoffs, we have to stay focused because our season can end at any moment if we let up. It’s not enough to be talented as individuals, we have to work to be our best as a team,” said Carly Glickenhaus ’16, who thinks it is amazing to be on a streak during her senior season. This team has truly become a family after working together tirelessly on and off the field, and is aiming for a successful playoff run. The Raiders defeated Carmel in the first round of the playoffs 1-0, the lone goal scored by Riley Edlitz ’19. The team was to face fellow league opponent, New Rochelle, whom the Raiders defeated twice during the regular season. While New Rochelle scored early goal the Eryn McDonald ’16 tied the game off of a cross from Olivia Higgins ’19. With 15 minutes left in the game the Huguenots scored again and came out victorious in the close matchup. While the team may not have made it as far as they had wished, their season was highly successful as they won their League and had a 13 game winning streak.
