After defeating John Jay, East Fishkill, and Clarkstown North in the playoffs, the Scarsdale Raiders field hockey team advanced to the semifinals.  There, they were scheduled to take on their rivals, the Mamaroneck Tigers, on Monday, October 30th under the lights.  Scarsdale was seeded 4th heading into playoffs after finishing the season with a 10-5-3 record.  At the Mamo game, the Raiders had a huge fan turnout and an atmosphere filled with energy and excitement.  The team was attempting to return to the State Finals for the second year in a row.  Although the Tigers scored two goals in the first half, the Raiders dominated most of the game.  However, the Raiders unfortunately were unable to score, ending their season on a 0-2 loss.  “We worked really well together as a team throughout the entire game, but we just could not score,” shared captain Lila Horwood ’18.  The Raiders were devastated as their season came to an end.  The loss was especially upsetting for the seniors as this game was the last they would ever play in.  “Playing on the field hockey team made my four years of high school even more amazing. The relationships I have formed with all of my teammates are so special to me,” remarked Paige Panessa ’18.  The team hopes to bounce back next season by defeating Mamaroneck and returning to the State Championship.  “Overall, we had a great season. We will really miss our seniors next year, but we plan on coming back better than ever,” said captain Julia Jamesley ’19.
