My rights as a woman living in a liberal state may not be in jeopardy like those of others. However, I feel that because I am privileged enough to have the resources that I do, I have a responsibility to those who don’t to use my voice. I want to live in a world that is not only equal for everyone but a world that is accepting no matter what your sexual orientation, race, religion, beliefs, etc. Although our future president may mock our differences and discriminate based on stereotypes, we have to stand up together and fight for what we believe is right. Throughout history, the positive changes that have been made are from the people who challenge the status quo and fight. We look back on these people as heroes and praise them for standing out from the norm. Now it is our turn to be on the right side of history. We have come too far to go back now. I don’t want to grow up in fear that my children will not be able to marry who they love or be held back in anyway from reaching their full potential. I don’t want to work in a world where a man will be paid more than I will without earning it. And I don’t want to be in a world where sexual assault is considered a joke. No matter who runs this country these are the problems we’ve always had and we have the chance to find the solutions. There should not be a divide between conservatives and liberals. This is not a war. This is our future and we have an obligation to listen to one another and reach a common ground that benefits all people. For all the boys reading this and thinking ugh another girl complaining about how the world is ending I’m sorry that you don’t have the balls to accept that women can voice their opinions too. My point is that we need to use our fear as motivation for change and not let the bigotry that has been imbedded in our society for so long determine who should get representation and due process of law. Justice for all does not take away from the rights of individuals. This is not a man hating post and it should not encourage you to hate the people whose beliefs oppose yours. This is the time for our entire generation to unite rather than battle. So let’s get educated on topics we care about and take action!!!!
