The second season of You has been released and, faced with the difficult task of recreating the thrill and suspense of the first season without being too repetitive, it did not disappoint.

This season, antihero Joe Goldberg, now known as Will Bettelheim, has made his way to Los Angeles to evade his ex-girlfriend, Candice, who has vowed to get her revenge for trying to kill her. At the start of the season, Joe claims to be a changed man and that he put all his wrongdoings behind him. But we quickly see that’s not the case.

Joe quickly finds Love Quinn, a young, wealthy chef who he instantly fell in love with. Compared to last season’s love interest Beck, Love was a much more complex character who wasn’t as clichéd as Beck, who followed the young naive writer trope to a tee. This season also gives us a better supporting cast than season one. That includes Forty, Love’s addict brother, Ellie Alves, Joe’s savvy 15-year-old neighbor and her gossip reporter sister Delilah.

Although the season starts a little slow, it picks up towards the middle of the season and gets very good. And the second half of the season, particularly the last two episodes, was full of suspense and crazy twists. The ending of this season is also very good, much better than last season’s predictable finish. It also leaves us with the sense that the third season, which has been recently announced by Netflix, will be very good as well.

Overall, this season was fantastic. It had a creative plot, interesting characters, and great acting. It keeps you at the edge of your seat and makes you keep watching. I am a big fan and would recommend.
